Epilepsy is characterized by an imbalance in neurotransmitter activity; increased excitatory to inhibitory activity. Acetylcholine (ACh), serotonin, and norepinephrine (NE) may modulate neural activity via several mechanisms, mainly through its receptors/transporter alterations the extracellular potassium (K+) concentration K+ ion channels. Seizures disrupt regulation of inwardly rectifying (Kir) channels alter receptor/transporter However, there are limited data present on immunoreactivity...
Propolis has become one of the most preferred supplements due to its beneficial biological properties. Organic (water and vegetable oils) chemical (ethyl alcohol, propylene glycol, glycerol) solvents are used for propolis extraction. However, effects these chemicals on health should be taken into account. In this study, extracts were evaluated.32 pregnant Wistar albino rats 64 neonatal/young adults given three different extractions (propylene water, olive oil). Histopathological analyses...
Inflammation and hypoxia have an effect on the molecular mechanism of cardiovascular respiratory pathologies accompanying seizures. Against this, Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid (TUDCA) can regulate oxidative stress, inflammation cellular survival by suppressing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. We evaluated expression changes NF-κB p65, TNF-α, HIF1α Kir6.2 proteins associated with seizures in brain stem, heart lung tissues representing autonomous network. Additionally, we examined protective...
Purpose A patient with subretinal and pre-retinal hemorrhage after secondary systemic amyloidosis due to familial Mediterranean fever is presented. Methods Case presentation. Results 30-year-old woman presented painless visual loss in the right eye. The examination demonstrated multiple hemorrhages, massive deposits which may represent amyloid material at left macular region. After 6 months, hemorrhages disappeared, but persisted. Conclusions deposition an uncommon manifestation of fever....
