The advent of various wireless technologies has paved the way for realization new infrastructures and applications smart cities. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are one most important among these technologies. WSNs widely used in our daily lives. Due to their cost effectiveness rapid deployment, can be securing cities by providing remote monitoring sensing many critical scenarios including hostile environments, battlefields, or areas subject natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcano...
On the ever increasing demand of different wireless based services and applications, new technologies have been evolved. One these applications is using sensor networks (WSN) for remote sensing monitoring. Several proposed to fulfil stringent requirement WSN such as long communication range, low energy efficient data rate. In this paper, we will shed lights several that examined be potential candidates applied in fifth generation (5G) how they can used WSN. Particularly, a comparison between...
Information security is considered one of the most important issues in various infrastructures related to field data communication where modern studies focus on finding effective and low-weight secure approaches. Digital watermarking a trend techniques that hides by using embedding extraction processes. Watermarking technology integrated into different frames without adding an overheard as conventional encryption. Therefore, it efficient be used encryption for applications run over limited...
Underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) have witnessed significant attention from both industries and academia in research development. This is due to the wide range of applications including scientific, commercial, military, environmental. Considering peculiar characteristics harsh environments UWSNs, reliable green communication among nodes network one major challenging tasks. In this context, article proposes a localization-free shortest path energy-efficient pressure-based routing...
Image transmission over Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LP-WAN) protocols has always been a difficult task since it necessitates high data rates and energy consumption. Long Range (LoRa) is one such protocol, which excellent for transferring long distances but generated severe doubts regarding the viability of image due to its low rate. This paper demonstrates application results an integrated LoRa Deep Learning-based computer vision system that can efficiently identify grape leaf diseases...
There are many existing clustering protocols that aim at making the sensor network stay functioning longer out of which Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) and Threshold-based LEACH (T-LEACH) protocols. T-LEACH protocol takes advantage main deficiency, is about having high control overhead. In other words, proposes cluster heads do not have to turn over every round but rather batch rounds. Nodes will keep serving as long their energy higher than a threshold energy. This article...
Fleets of cooperative drones are a powerful tool in monitoring critical scenarios requiring early anomaly discovery and intervention. Due to limited energy availability application requirements, may visit target points consecutive trips, with recharging data offloading between. To capture timeliness intervention prioritize coverage, we propose the new notion Weighted Progressive Coverage, which is based on definition time dependent weights. progressive coverage generalizes classic notions as...
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are increasingly gaining popularity, especially with the advent of many artificial intelligence (AI) driven applications and expert systems. Such require specific relevant sensors’ data to be stored, processed, analyzed, input Obviously, nodes (SNs) have limited energy computation capabilities normally deployed remotely over an area interest (AoI). Therefore, proposing efficient protocols for sensing sending is paramount WSNs operation. Nodes’ clustering a...
Summary Multimedia communication over wired and wireless networks becomes a compulsory need for many recent applications. To effectively react to the tremendous demand of video streaming Internet, videos are usually compressed by utilizing spatial temporal redundancy. It is noteworthy mention that compressing may degrade their quality if it not investigated properly. In other words, as consequence exploiting redundancies, frame dependencies emanate, which make discarding frames, because...
In this paper, we propose a novel energy-aware and layering-based clustering routing algorithm (EA-CRA) for gathering data in WSNs. EA-CRA employs an innovative multilayered architecture. More specifically, divide the field into number of layers where width layer not only decreases towards base station, but also is composed certain clusters (sub layers). The proposed design shortens communication distance between nodes, amount overhead required setting up clusters. Performance our examined...
It is well known that the effect of shadowing on a visible light communication (VLC) system severe due to its line sight propagation nature. Hence, can seriously impair performance. In this paper, we propose method take advantage optical diffraction phenomenon overcome by employing receiver with wide field-of-view (FOV). We have modelled for Bimodal Gaussian distribution and derived probability error low, moderate conditions. The effectively represents separate modes caused different...
Wireless sensor networks have recently been widely used in several applications and scenarios, especially because they the ability flexibility for establishing a scalable reliable wireless network. Cooperative multi-robotic systems (CMRS) are one example of these where network between robots is essential paramount to their operation. Further, can utilize mobility provide sensing functionality areas that not covered by static sensor. This be achieved equipping with specific sensors sense area...
The IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol is widely used in mesh wireless sensor networks due to its low energy consumption and long transmission range. In order achieve the best performance, it important optimize parameters such that a minimum end-to-end delay, packet drop rate maximum throughput are achieved. this paper, simulation study conducted values of two parameters; Beacon Superframe orders when with different cluster sizes rates.
The Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality (PEAQ) is a standard ITU algorithm that widely used in audio quality evaluation. This reported to be accurate for high signal with low impairments are caused by lossy compression associated codecs. In this paper, we experimentally and quantitatively show PEAQ fails drastically under very small imperceptible frames' losses streaming applications over networks or due recording processing errors, which make it not preferable evaluation tool these applications.
