Abstract Wireless communication technologies have now greatly impact our daily lives. From indoor wireless LANs to outdoor cellular mobile networks, benefited billions of users around the globe. The era vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is evolving, gaining attention and momentum. Researchers developers built VANET simulation software allow study evaluation various media access, routing, emergency warning protocols. fundamentally different from MANETs (mobile networks) because in VANETs,...
Over the years, we have harnessed power of computing to improve speed operations and increase in productivity. Also, witnessed merging telecommunications. This excellent combination two important fields has propelled our capability even further, allowing us communicate anytime anywhere, improving work flow increasing quality life tremendously. The next wave evolution foresee is convergence telecommunication, computing, wireless, transportation technologies. Once this happens, roads highways...
The increasing activity in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) area faces a strong limitation: slow pace at which automotive industry is making cars "smarter". On contrary, smartphone advancing quickly. Existing smartphones are endowed with multiple wireless interfaces and high computational power, being able to perform wide variety of tasks. By combining existing vehicles through an appropriate interface we move closer smart vehicle paradigm, offering user new functionalities...
Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems, mainly represented by vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), are among the key components contributing to Smart City and World paradigms. Based on continuous exchange of both periodic event triggered messages, smart vehicles can enhance road safety, while also providing support for comfort applications. In addition different communication protocols, securing such communications establishing a certain trustiness main challenges address, since...
Detecting and controlling the diffusion of infectious diseases such as COVID-19 is crucial to managing epidemics. One common measure taken contain or reduce detect infected individuals trace their prior contacts so then selectively isolate any likely have been infected. These can be traced using mobile devices smartphones smartwatches, which continuously collect location owners by embedded localisation communications technologies, GPS, Cellular networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. This paper...
Untethered nodes in mobile ad hoc networks strongly depend on the efficient use of their batteries. In this paper, we propose a new metric, drain rate, to forecast lifetime according current traffic conditions. This metric is combined with value remaining battery capacity determine which can be part an active route. We describe route selection mechanisms for MANET routing protocols, call minimum rate (MDR) and conditional (CMDR). MDR extends nodal life duration paths, while CMDR also...
The design of efficient routing protocols is a fundamental problem in Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET). Many different have been proposed the literature, each one based on characteristics and properties. Some these studied their performances evaluated detail, focusing aspects such as overhead latency route length. We concentrate energy consumption issues protocols. present performance comparison DSR, AODV, TORA DSDV with respect to consumption, evaluating how approaches algorithms affect usage...
Ad hoc networking is regarded as an adequate solution to cooperative driving between communicating cars on the road. Deploying and testing these networks, usually known Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), involves a high cost in real world, so simulation useful alternative research. One of most critical issues study VANETs use mobility model which resembles, closely possible, behavior vehicular traffic. Mobility models are crucial obtain accurate meaningful results. In this paper we present...
This survey provides an in-depth analysis of the different proposals for Vehicular Delay Tolerant Networks (VDTNs). We introduce DTN architecture and classify VDTN according to type knowledge needed route messages. classification also includes some Network (DTN) protocols originally designed Opportunistic illustrate evolution from protocols. identify a set common mechanisms that can be applied almost all protocols, heavily influencing their performance. Finally, we present applications where...
Flying ad-hoc networks are becoming a promising solution for different application scenarios involving unmanned aerial vehicles, like urban surveillance or search and rescue missions. However, such present various very specific communication issues. As consequence, there several research studies focused on analyzing their performance via simulation. Correctly modeling mobility is crucial in this context although many models already available to reproduce the behavior of mobile nodes an...
Message oriented middleware (MOM) refers to the software infrastructure supporting sending and receiving messages between distributed systems. AMQP MQTT are two most relevant protocols in this context. They extensively used for exchanging since they provide an abstraction of different participating system entities, alleviating their coordination simplifying communication programming details. These protocols, however, have not been thoroughly tested context mobile or dynamic networks like...
Currently, the number of vehicles increases every year, raising probability having accidents. When an accident occurs, wireless technologies enable to share warning messages with other by using vehicle (V2V) communications, and emergency services infrastructure (V2I) communications. Regarding Road Side Units (RSUs) act similarly LAN access points, can provide communications infrastructure. Since RSUs are usually very expensive install, authorities limit their number, especially in suburbs...
In this paper, we propose GeoSaW, a delay-tolerant routing protocol for Airborne Networks in Search and Rescue scenarios. The exploits the geographical information of UAVs to make appropriate message forwarding decisions. More precisely, about future UAV's motion path is exploited select best UAV carrying towards destination. Simulation results show that proposed solution outperforms classic DTN protocols terms several performance metrics.
The symbiosis between communication technologies and vehicles offer a priceless opportunity to improve assistance people injured in traffic accidents, providing information about the incident reduce response time of emergency services.Determining more accurately required human material resources for each particular accident could significantly number victims. This paper presents our novel system prototype especially designed detect provide faster thereby minimizing consequences on passengers'...
Simulation is one of the most powerful tools we have for evaluating performance Opportunistic Networks. In this survey, focus on available and models, compare their precision experimentally show scalability different simulators. We also perform a gap analysis state-of-the-art Network simulations sketch out possible further development lines research. This survey targeted at students starting work research in area while serving as valuable source information experienced researchers.

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile nodes connected by wireless links without using any pre-existent infrastructure. MANET rely on network cooperation schemes to properly work, forwarding traffic unrelated its own use. However, in the real world, most may have a selfish behavior, being unwilling forward packets for others order save resources. Therefore, detecting these is essential performance. Watchdogs used detect computer networks. A way reduce detection time and...
The DrivingStyles architecture integrates both data mining techniques and neural networks to generate a classification of driving styles by analyzing the driver behavior along each route. In particular, based on parameters such as speed, acceleration, revolutions per minute engine (rpm), we have implemented network algorithm that is able characterize type road which vehicle moving, well degree aggressiveness driver. final goal assist drivers at correcting bad habits in their behavior, while...

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) assume that mobile nodes voluntary cooperate in order to work properly. This cooperation is a cost-intensive activity and some can refuse cooperate, leading selfish node behaviour. Thus, the overall network performance could be seriously affected. The use of watchdogs well-known mechanism detect nodes. However, detection process performed by fail, generating false positives negatives induce wrong operations. Moreover, relying on local alone lead poor when...
