The efficient use of energy in electrical systems has become a relevant topic due to its environmental impact. Parameter identification induction motors and capacitor allocation distribution networks are two representative problems that have strong implications the massive energy. From an optimization perspective, both considered extremely complex their non-linearity, discontinuity, high multi-modality. These characteristics make difficult solve them by using standard techniques. On other...

System identification is a complex optimization problem which has recently attracted the attention in field of science and engineering. In particular, use infinite impulse response (IIR) models for preferred over their equivalent FIR (finite response) since former yield more accurate physical plants real world applications. However, IIR structures tend to produce multimodal error surfaces whose cost functions are significantly difficult minimize. Evolutionary computation techniques (ECT)...

This paper proposes a new algorithm called Multimodal Flower Pollination Algorithm (MFPA).Under MFPA, the original (FPA) is enhanced with multimodal capabilities in order to find all possible optima an optimization problem. The performance of proposed MFPA compared several approaches considering evaluation set well-known benchmark functions.Experimental data indicate that provides better results over other competitors terms accuracy and robustness.

Homomorphic filtering (HF) is a methodology that separates an image into two components: illumination and reflectance. Through the processing of these components, it possible to significantly improve contrast low-frequency components while preserving edges sharp features image. The parameter values filter produces best enhancement depends on conditions for each However, finding optimal parameters can be challenging, often involves trial-and-error process, prone errors due human factors. In...

The efficient use of electrical energy is a topic that has attracted attention for its environmental consequences. On the other hand, induction motors represent main component in most industries. They consume highest percentages industrial facilities. This consumption depends on operation conditions motor imposed by internal parameters. Since parameters an are not directly measurable, identification process must be conducted to obtain them. In process, parameter estimation transformed into...

Due to its multiple applications, parameteridentification for fractional-order chaotic systems hasattracted the interests of several research communities. In identification, parameter estimation processis transformed into a multidimensional optimizationproblem where fractional orders, as well functionalparameters system are considered thedecision variables. Under this approach, complexityof tends producemultimodal error surfaces which their cost functionsare significantly difficult minimize....

Harmonic frequencies existing in power systems produce harmful effects. Signals containing harmonic effect quality problems such as heating, premature wear, motor pulsations, and so on. Commonly, to cancel the effects is based on traditional filtering methods. However, methodologies tend fail presence of high convexity, which produces undesirable results. Under circumstances, appropriate identification an important task for removing reducing effects, avoiding potential damage electrical...
