Abstract The focus of this note is an ichnological study the “Argiles de Saïda” formation (Callovo-Oxfordian) in Djebel Brame, a region representing eastern extremity Tlemcenian domain and marked by rhythmic clay-sandstone sedimentation. From lithostratigraphic viewpoint, composed two units with distinct sequential organization trace fossil content. These deposits are characterized weak to moderate bioturbation, eleven ichnogenera were found: Bergaueria, Chondrites, Diplichnites,...
Abstract Meter-scale shallowing-upward cycles are recorded in many carbonate successions around the world. It is often difficult to recognize whether they represent autocycles, formed through intrinsic controls, or allocycles, resulting from orbital forcing tectonic movements, both. Here, we review criteria used identification of two types cyclicity and apply them newly described lower Pliensbachian outcrops Traras Mountains, northwestern Algeria. Throughout investigation six sections,...
Abstract The sequence stratigraphical study of the Viséan Formations shows importance Ben‐Zireg Trough for structural development Béchar Basin. approach has allowed to decipher systems tracts, which have filled accommodation space under tectono‐eustatic control. A deep sea fan recorded by first flysch‐type deposits transported submarine canyons was followed a prograding lowstand wedge in flysch with olistostromes, transgressive system tract (TST) identified without olistostrome, and...
The “Argiles de Saida” Formation (Late Jurassic) in the tlemcenian domain (Takhemaret, Algeria) : biostratigraphical, ichnological and sedimentological data.- study area is located outskirt to Takhemaret village, constituting part of Saida Mountains, eastern segment (northwest Algeria). In this area, subdivided into three lithostratigraphic units lower clay-sandstone unit, clay-carbonate unit upper unit. They were previously assigned Callovian-Oxfordian. However, newly discovered ammonites...
The vertical range of the brachiopods in Ouarsenis depends closely on sedimentary evolution and local geodynamic controls. During Late Sinemurian Early Carixian, several Zeilleriid coquinas have accumulated a shallow carbonate platform. These are well levelled biochronologic scale their age is confirmed by discovery an ammonite (Gemmellaroceras sp.). Aborted reefs were built laterally following tectonic movements. has happened during relative sea-level rise. appeared at beginning disappeared...
