A facile one-pot synthesis of 4′-aryl-2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridines from aryl aldehydes and 2-acetylpyridine is presented. The terpyridines incorporating sterically hindered groups, such as the 9-anthryl group, can also be readily synthesized using this method.

The molecular design, chemical synthesis, and biological evaluation of two distinct series platensimycin analogues with varying degrees complexity are described. first compounds probes the importance benzoic acid subunit molecule, while second explores tetracyclic cage domain. data obtained reveal that, substituted domain is a highly conserved structural motif within active strict functional group requirements, molecule can tolerate considerable modifications without losing action. These...

The chemical synthesis and biological evaluation of carbaplatensimycin, the carbon analogue recently reported antibiotic platensimycin has been accomplished. Carbaplatensimycin exhibited similar potency to natural product as an antibacterial agent against a variety strains, including methicilin- vancomycin-resistant bacteria.

An ocean of discovery: The first total synthesis the highly oxygenated, marine-derived, natural product sporolide B has been achieved through a convergent strategy. key steps involve ruthenium-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition to assemble indene structural motif and thermally induced Diels-Alder-type reaction forge macrocycle (see scheme).

Abstract A new family of ruthenium(II) complexes with multichromophoric properties was prepared based on a “chemistry‐on‐the‐complex” synthetic approach. The compounds are tridentate chelating sites (tpy‐type ligands, tpy=2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine) and most them carry appended anthryl chromophores. Complexes 2 b were synthesized through the Pd‐catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction between 9‐anthrylboronic acid chloro ligands presursor species 1 , respectively. monocoupling product c also as...

The heteroleptic and homoleptic ruthenium(II) complexes of 4'-cyano-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine are synthesized by palladium catalyzed cyanation the corresponding Ru(II) 4'-chloro-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine. introduction strongly electron-withdrawing cyano group into Ru(tpy)(2)(2+) moiety dramatically changes its photophysical redox properties as well prolongs room temperature excited-state lifetime.

The total synthesis of the structurally unique secondary metabolite sporolide B (1b) is described. 1b was developed on basis preliminary studies that revealed reactivity an appropriate o-quinone as a diene system toward number indene derivatives dienophiles, first in intermolecular and thence intramolecular settings. Thus, substrates were devised (37 75) underwent exquisite [4+2] cycloaddition reactions under thermal conditions to provide primitive sporolide-type structures subsequently...

Abstract A new N‐heterocyclic carbene ligand N , ′‐bis(2‐pyridyl)‐tetrahydropyrimidinium hexafluorophosphate ( 1 ) has been synthesized and characterized. Its homoleptic Ru II complex 2 exhibits a more facile oxidation (+1.17 V vs. SCE) relative to the prototypical [Ru(tpy) ] 2+ (+1.32 (tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine). The heteroleptic 3 incorporating 4′‐ p ‐tolyl‐tpy, also displays positive oxidising potential (+1.28 than . X‐ray crystal structures of complexes confirm meridional tridentate...
