l-Cystine functionalized δ-FeOOH nanoparticles (Cys-δ-FeOOH) were prepared by a cheap and straightforward method for using as an adsorbent of Hg(II) in aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction (XRD), attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR), Raman confirmed that Cys-δ-FeOOH was successfully synthesized. with 14 nm crystal size, 34 m2 g−1 surface area, 9 pore size produced. The functionalization the cysteine decreases point zero charge iron oxyhydroxide from 8.4 to 5.7...

Among several types of emerging contaminants, the endocrine disruptors 17β-estradiol (E2) and 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) are particularly notable. These compounds discharged into sewage systems subsequently water bodies, as conventional wastewater treatment processes unable to effectively eliminate such pollutants. Therefore, present study aimed evaluate possibility removing from using photocatalytic activity compound Ag3AsO4. Silver arsenate was synthesized characterized, quantification...

The emission and accumulation of toxic elements such as arsenic in various environmental compartments have become increasingly frequent primarily due to anthropogenic actions those observed agricultural, industrial, mining activities. An example contamination Brazil exists the city Paracatu, MG, operation a gold mine. aim this work is evaluate routes effects (air, water, soil) organisms (fish vegetables) from regions well trophic transfer element for risk assessment population. In study,...

Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation of Fe2+ and Fe3+ then modified with Au to produce an effective adsorbent (Fe3O4/Au) for aqueous Hg(II) in contaminated water. Rietveld refinement on the XRD pattern confirmed that Fe3O4/Au was synthesised. Mössbauer spectra exhibited broad asymmetric resonance lines two sextets which can be assigned tetrahedral Fe3+; octahedral Fe3+/Fe2+. The quantitative analysis magnetite confirms sample shows around 3 wt.% 97 partially oxidised Fe3O4....

If not properly treated, water contaminated with chromium (Cr(VI)) and lead (Pb(II)) can cause severe damage to health due the accumulation of those toxic metals in human body. Therefore, this work, three iron oxides, i.e., δ-FeOOH, cystine-functionalized δ-FeOOH (Cys-δ-FeOOH), Fe₃O₄, were synthesized used as adsorbents for Cr(VI) Pb(II) water. The results indicated that is best adsorbed on cys-δ-FeOOH followed by Fe₃O₄. It was because enhanced interaction between cysteine functional groups...

Abstract The emission of residues has contributed immensely to the fact that man is susceptible and exposed toxic chemical products, among them, arsenic. One main anthropic sources arsenic in world mining, which can contribute contamination soil, water, air, food. An example environmental Brazil occurs city Paracatu - MG, due operation a gold mine. Thus, objectives this study were: (i) assess physical-chemical parameters concentration samples superficial fresh water (sub-basin River), soil...
