In this study, we report quantity, solubility and molecular polymorphism of collagen, proportional relationships between various types ultrastructure collagen fibres, the amounts glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) them in Wharton's jelly normal umbilical cords. We compare extracellular matrix components with those cord artery. Collagen demonstrates some specific features. It is very insoluble neutral salt a slightly acidic solution appears to be resistant action depolymerizing agent (EDTA-Na2). Only...

<i>Objective:</i> The defects of collagen metabolism are responsible for the disorganization extracellular matrix in stomach cancer. Collagen through interaction with integrin receptors regulates cellular growth, differentiation, gene expression, prolidase and gelatinase activity plays an important role tumorigenesis invasiveness. Although metalloproteinases initiate breakdown tissues, final step its degradation is mediated by prolidase. Therefore, we decided to compare control...

<i>Objective(s):</i> Extracellular matrix remodeling in the vein wall is involved varicose pathogenesis, with transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) playing a potential role. The aim of study was to assess TGF-β signaling pathway including its receptor (TGF-β RII) and phosphorylated receptor-regulated Smads (p-Smad2/3) veins. <i>Methods:</i> Varicose veins from patients undergoing surgery were studied material, whereas...

The amounts and activities of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) were studied in human myometrium uterine leiomyomas various stages growth. It was found that both the investigated tumors contain collagenolytic enzymes. MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3 MMP-9 found. Gelatinase A (MMP-2) is most abundant. In control only 10% this enzyme exists an active form, whereas tumors, especially large ones, values reach 30%. suggested high activity MMP-2 responsible for remodelling extracellular growing tumors.

Pre-eclampsia--edema, proteinuria, hypertension (EPH-gestosis) is one of the more common complications observed during pregnancy. The umbilical cord vein walls were taken from newborns delivered by healthy mothers (control material) and with polysymptomatic pre-eclampsia (investigated material). Normal saphenous collected adult subjects undergoing varicose surgery. collagen content was measured assay hydroxyproline. Elastin determined according to Fastin Assay gravimetrically....

Abstract There is a host of evidence for the role bioactive sphingolipids in cancer biology, and dysregulated sphingolipid metabolism was observed many malignant tumors. The aim present study to provide more detailed data on different stages clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC). Samples tumor noncancerous fragments same kidney were collected from patients who underwent radical nephrectomy. subjects stratified according degree malignancy ( n = 14 G2, 12 G3, 9 G4). content...

Our earlier paper has reported that Wharton's jelly is a reservoir of several peptide growth factors, including acidic and basic fibroblast factors (aFGF bFGF, respectively). Both can be extracted by buffered salts solutions in the form high molecular mass complexes, probably with component(s) extracellular matrix. aFGF bFGF from such extracts hardly penetrate 10% polyacrylamide gels during electrophoresis. Pre-treatment hyaluronidase slightly increased extractability aFGF, but did not...

Abstract Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) is known as an important stimulator of collagen and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) biosynthesis in tissues. IGF-I activity under control IGF-I-binding proteins (IGFBPs) with different affinity. IGFBP-1 inhibitor IGF-dependent functions. Some IGFBPs (e.g., IGFBP-1) may undergo phosphorylation that dramatically increases IGFBP affinity for IGF. Wharton's jelly represents a reservoir its binding (BPs).
