We present a new interaction technique to simulate textures in desktop applications without haptic interface. The proposed consists modifying the motion of cursor on computer screen - i.e. Control/Display ratio. Assuming that image displayed corresponds top view texture, an acceleration (or deceleration) indicates negative positive) slope texture. Experimental evaluations showed participants could successfully identify macroscopic such as bumps and holes, by simply using variations cursor....

Maritime traffic volume in the Arctic is growing for several reasons: climate change resulting less ice extent, duration, and thickness; economic drivers are inducing growth resource extraction traffic, community size (affecting resupply) adventure tourism. This dynamic situation, coupled with harsh weather, variable operating conditions, remoteness, lack of straightforward emergency response options, demand robust risk management processes. The requirements polar ship operations specified...

Nowadays, an abundance of sensors are used to collect very large datasets moving objects. The movement these objects can be analysed by identifying common routes. For this, a cluster trajectories must defined and the pattern each discovered. In this article, we introduce new pattern, called Trajectory Box Plot (TBP), summarize set following same route. TBP is extension well-known descriptive statistics concept. Each described median trajectory, 3D box fence. trajectory depicts typical mobile...

Distance computation between polylines or trajectories is a key point to assess similarity geometrical objects. This paper describes new optimized algorithm compute discrete Fréchet distance which aims lower time and improve precision. applied GPS trajectories. It includes filtering, pruning an enhancement process. Thanks this algorithm, big data trajectory repositories can be mined. process validated on large dataset.

The understanding of daily human activity is an active research topic. Thanks to GPS and smartphones, movements can be monitored analyzed. In addition, by exploiting Linked Open Data user personal data, semantic labels annotations added movements. Thus, trajectories considered as sequences timestamped activities where each described a label. this context, major challenge the comparison such trajectories, looking extract learning similar mobility behaviors. We propose CED (Contextual Edit...

A large set of Web services are nowadays available providing complementary content about: schedule public transportation, description touristic area, eteorological information, geocoding operations, etc. We present in this article a mobile-application prototype that mashups to define custom plans, i.e., takes into account tourist preferences (type stay, interest) and constraints (duration, budget, locomotion modality). Moreover, the application considers real-time events (e.g., weather data...

More and more mobile objects are now equipped with sensors allowing real time monitoring of their movements which can be stored in spatio-temporal databases. Nowadays, data mining on a huge quantity positions allows to analyse the behaviour those objects. From results statistical analysis sets trajectories, patterns defined (main routes channels). Using these patterns, unusual situations detected time. Furthermore, object by comparing trajectory main route. In this article, technique is...
