Notch signaling is known to differentially affect the development of lymphoid B and T cell lineages, but it remains unclear whether such effects are specifically dependent on distinct ligands. Using a coculture assay we observed that ligand Delta-1 completely inhibits differentiation human hematopoietic progenitors into lineage while promoting emergence cells with phenotype cell/natural killer (NK) precursors. In contrast, Jagged-1 did not disturb either or cell/NK development. Furthermore,...

Anemia and iron deficiency during pregnancy are a worldwide concern more frequent among women of reproductive age, pregnant women, young children. The aim this study was to assess the prevalence anemia risk factors for depletion first half pregnancy, in Portuguese population.A prospective conducted at tertiary hospital included until 20th week gestation. Data collected regarding demographic features hemoglobin serum ferritin concentrations were determined. A multivariate logistic regression...

It has been shown that Notch signaling mediated by ligands of both Jagged and Delta families expands the hematopoietic stem cell compartment while blocking or delaying terminal myeloid differentiation. Here we show Delta1‐ Jagged1‐expressing stromal cells have distinct effects on clonogenic differentiation capacities human CD34+ CD38+ cells. Jagged1 increases number bipotent [colony‐forming unit‐granulocyte macrophage (CFU‐GM) unipotent progenitors (CFU‐granulocytes CFU‐macrophages), without...

The role of intrapartum ultrasound as an ancillary method to instrumental vaginal delivery is yet be determined. This study aimed compare the use transabdominal and transperineal with routine clinical care before performing delivery, regarding incidence adverse maternal neonatal outcomes.A randomized controlled trial was conducted between October 2016 March 2019 in two tertiary maternity hospitals Lisbon, Portugal. Women at term, full cervical dilatation, singleton fetuses cephalic...

Introduction: The best route of delivery for the term breech fetus is still controversial. We aim to compare maternal and neonatal outcomes between vaginal cesarean deliveries.Material Methods: Multicentric retrospective cohort study singleton fetuses delivered vaginally or by elective section from January 2012 - October 2014. Primary were morbidity mortality. Results: Sixty five compared 1262 cesarean. Nulliparous women more common in group (69.3% vs 24.6%; p < 0.0001). Gestational age at...

Background: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, not related to ovulation induction, is rare. A MEDLINE search from 1987 1997 using the key words "spontaneous ovarian stimulation," "pregnancy," and "hypothyroidism" revealed only five cases: three associated with pregnancies two primary hypothyroidism. Case: 25-year-old white gravida 2, para 1, at 11–12 weeks' gestation presented mild distension of a nontender abdomen, myxedematous facies, large bilateral, multilobulated cysts. Conception had...

Aneurysms of the vein Galen (AVG) represent less than 1% all intracranial arteriovenous malformations. Two cases prenatal diagnosis made by color Doppler ultrasonography at 32 weeks gestation are reported. Both presented with antenatal mild cardiomegaly and both developed severe cardiac failure in neonatal period. Embolization was unsuccessful infants died. These highlight need for a careful evaluation time mode delivery; embolization must be performed after fully informed decision.

The rates of overall, primary repeat sections were analyzed. linear regression adjusted R-square used access relative contribution each indication variation section. Results: During 7-year period decreased 30.9% 27.6%.
