Abstract We provide the first continuous Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) climate record for higher Himalayas (Kedarnath, India) by analyzing a 14 C-dated peat sequence covering last ~8000 years, with ~50 years temporal resolution. The ISM variability inferred using various proxies reveal striking similarity Greenland ice core (GISP2) temperature and rapid denitrification changes recorded in sediments off Peru. Kedarnath provides compelling evidence reorganization of global system taking place at...

ABSTRACT Detailed geomorphological investigation supported by field stratigraphy and optical dating enabled us to identify three major events of glaciation in the eastern Zanskar Himalaya (Sarchu Plain). The oldest most extensive is Sarchu Glaciation Stage‐1 (SGS‐1) that pre‐dates Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) assigned cold wet Marine Isotope Stage‐4 (MIS‐4). second glacial advance (SGS‐2) optically dated ∼20 ka youngest SGS‐3 8.2 cooling event. Evidence deglaciation preserved as outwash...
