Normative reference values are essential to identify deviation from normal and evaluate response treatment. As joint range of motion datasets specific the pediatric population infrequently reported in literature, we determined lower limb passive bone torsion 53 typically developing children aged 4–16 years. Our were consistent with previously published norms, although for some measures, large variability literature exists. A clear correlation between age was observed most measures. results...
To investigate individualized goals set and goal attainment following lower limb orthopedic surgery for children adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP). Retrospective chart review. Individualized prior to using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and/or Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) follow-up within 18 months post-surgery were analyzed. Goals categorized into functional mobility, leisure, self-care productivity. 44 met inclusion criteria, mean age 12.5 years (range...
Abstract Reduced muscle tone, weakness, and physical fatigue can impact considerably on quality of life for children with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Human biopsies mouse models NF1 deficiency in show intramyocellular lipid accumulation, preclinical data have indicated that L‐carnitine supplementation ameliorate this phenotype. The aim study is to examine whether daily safe feasible, will improve strength reduce NF1. A 12‐week Phase 2a trial was conducted using 1000 mg oral levocarnitine...
This study examines inter-rater reliability between physiotherapists using the Pirani scoring system for clubfoot, and whether addition of two scale points to give a modified five-point severity improves reliability. A total 65 infant feet were assessed by raters, with 21 different rater combinations used. The was found be reliable assessment tool when used score minimum fair good demonstrated across all clinical signs. proved significantly more than three-point scale; however, benefit is...
Aims: To determine whether electrical stimulation (ES) following botulinum toxin A (BoNT/A) injection increases passive extensibility of the hamstring muscles in children with spastic diplegia. Methods: Six undergoing bilateral BoNT/A injections to hamstrings participated this within-participant single blind randomized controlled trial. One leg each child was randomised experimental condition and other control condition. The received daily stretch ES for 12 weeks, while only stretch. primary...
Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability physiotherapists using Pirani scoring system for clubfoot score digital photographs infants’ feet. Methods: Twelve infant feet were photographed reflect variations in six clinical signs clubfoot. Physiotherapists viewed scored on two separate occasions. Results: Intra-rater excellent when photographs, while found be fair good most subscales. Experienced therapists demonstrated higher than novice but not...

We report on a female patient with stiff-knee gait resulting from rectus femoris fibrosis, following multiple injections into the quadriceps musculature. Treatment planning and outcome were aided by instrumented three-dimensional analysis. One year after surgery, improvements found in walking speed, step length, anterior pelvic tilt, knee flexion swing, ankle dorsiflexion swing. Instrumented analysis was useful tool for characterizing impairments detecting changes surgical intervention....
To provide a summary of the translational gaps in musculoskeletal research as identified Mine Gap workshop and propose possible solutions. The online was hosted on October 14th 15th, 2020. Five international panels, each comprised clinician, clinical researcher basic scientist, presented proposed solutions for themes biomechanics, pain, biological measurements, phenotypes imaging. This followed by an interactive panel discussion with consumer insights. A number across five were identified....
