Since determining experimentally a wide variety of thermophysical properties—even for very small portion the already known room temperature ionic liquids (and their mixtures and solutions)—is an impossible goal, it is imperative that reliable predictive methods be developed. In turn, these might offer us clues to understanding underlying ion–ion ion–molecule interactions. 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, one most thoroughly investigated liquids, together with water, greenest...
A surprising mixed solvent effect, both in its magnitude and direction, has been found the phase diagram of ternary mixture ([C4mim][PF6] + (water ethanol)). For a molar ratio 1∶1 water to ethanol, co-solvent effect near-critical demixing temperature can be as large 80 K.
The current study focuses on 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [bmim][BF4], and hexafluorophosphate, [bmim][PF6]. objective is to the influence of pressure as well that anion several properties this type ionic liquid. speed sound densities in pure liquids (ILs) a function temperature have been determined. Several other thermodynamic such compressibilities, expansivities, heat capacities obtained. To best our knowledge, research comprises both first data evaluation at high...
Novel ionic liquids containing ampicillin as an active pharmaceutical ingredient anion were prepared with good yields by using a new, efficient synthetic procedure based on the neutralization of moderately basic ammonia solution different organic cation hydroxides. The relevant physical and thermal properties these novel also evaluated.
Liquid−liquid phase splitting in ternary mixtures that contain a room-temperature ionic liquid and an alcohol aqueous solutionnamely, [bmim][PF6] + ethanol water [bmim][NTf2] 2-methylpropanol wateris studied. Experimental cloud-point temperatures were obtained up to pressures of 400 bar, using He−Ne laser light-scattering technique. Although pressurization favors mutual miscibility the presence high concentrations alcohols, contrary occurs water-rich solutions. Both exhibit very pronounced...
Lower critical solution temperatures (LCST)-type of phase diagrams, including the presence closed loops, have been encountered for first time in binary and quasi-binary liquid solutions ionic liquids. Furthermore, results constitute experimental support existence a theoretically postulated, but never encountered, special kind type VII diagram. Two distinct mechanisms are involved appearance demixing upon temperature increase. These findings underlie specific, oriented interactions between...
In this paper, results on the hydrogenation of α-pinene, a liquid reactant, in supercritical (SC) CO2 are presented. Visual observation phase equilibria under conditions reaction experiments was also performed. Much faster rates were obtained when two-phase system present reactor than homogeneous, one-phase situation occurred. This phenomenon is attributed to fact that SC can dissolve extensively leading formation an “expanded liquid”, which large quantities hydrogen. seems be first time...
The liquid–liquid equilibrium of the [C4mim][NTf2]–1-butanol system presents upper critical solution temperature (UCST) behaviour. We report influence added water as well effect hydrostatic pressure on cloud points. Similarly to previously studied systems that involved RTILs in our laboratories, is shown be a very good co-solvent with alcohols. If small amount present it decreases UCST much 1.5 K per mol% butanol. points rather modest (≈−3.5 × 10−3 bar−1). As for liquid–vapour equilibria,...
In this work, liquid−liquid equilibria (LLE) of solutions imidazolium-based ionic liquids—with either bistriflamide ([Cnmim][NTf2], n = 2 and 10) or triflate anions ([C2mim][OTf]), with 1-propanol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerol (1,2,3-propanetriol)—were studied. The obtained phase diagrams show a remarkable difference in solvation properties between liquids NTf2 OTf toward the aforementioned alcohols: although [C2mim][NTf2] constantly exhibited partial miscibility, [C2mim][OTf]...
Abstract The efficient transformation of carbon dioxide into fuels can be an excellent alternative to sequestration. In this work, we describe CO 2 hydrogenation methane in imidazolium‐based ionic liquid media, using ruthenium nanoparticles prepared situ as catalyst. best yield (69 %) was achieved 0.24 mol % catalyst (in [omim][NTf ], 1‐octyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bistrifluoromethanesulfonylimide, at 40 bar hydrogen pressure plus pressure, and 150 °C.
Phase equilibrium results for mixtures of three poly(ethylene glycol)s (PEGs) molar mass 200, 400 and 600 g mol-1 with carbon dioxide over the temperature range 313.15–348.15 K pressures up to 26 MPa are presented. A new static analytical apparatus was built carry out these measurements. The precision method is better than 3% accuracy estimated be 5% fraction. well correlated Sanchez–Lacombe equation state, using a non-temperature dependent interaction parameter ζ. Negative hydroxy end-group...
Aqueous solutions of a copolymer derivative polyacrylamide showed very interesting behavior, that in which the system evolves from one kind double criticality (pressure−hypercritical point) to another (temperature−hypercritical as polymer molecular weight decreases. While neighboring region former point expects change contraction expansion upon mixing with increasing pressure; latter, should be accompanied by sign excess enthalpy temperature increases. L−L equilibria studies were performed...

This paper presents vapor−liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for systems containing high-pressure CO2, an ionic liquid, and products of enzymatic reaction between succinic anhydride (R,S)-2-octanol in the presence a lipase. VLE experiments were used to calculate partition coefficients liquid-rich phase CO2-rich phase. Experiments extraction with CO2 from liquid (S)-2-octanol conditions similar those postreaction mixture also carried out. The at 11 MPa 35 °C allows one recover completely unreacted...
Pressure-tuning of selectivity in the hydrogenation limonene carbon dioxide was found biphasic systems, close but below critical conditions reaction mixture, where hydrogen solubility liquid is highly dependent on pressure. The subtle effects pressure two-phase region CO2 + H2 a reagent mixtures are essential factors determining rates and selectivities high-pressure dioxide.
