This work reports an efficient melt compression method for fabricating robust CdS composite photonic crystal films with vivid and mechanically responsive structural colors that can be tailored recombined into multicolor patterns facilely.
The innovative application of static layering method to deposit SiO 2 nanoparticles with more uniform diameter enables the assembly angle-dependent and liquid-responsive photonic crystals be realized quickly.
