Salago fiber (genus wikstroemia spp.) is a bast natural native of the Philippines. This found all over this country and has various applications, e.g. as handmade paper, currency or bank notes. In study, untreated 5 wt% NaOH-treated fibers was characterized chemically, physically, thermally, morphologically for first time. It that treatment increases density improves mechanical properties fiber. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed stretching O–H C–H alkane groups at...
Membrane support properties influence the performance of thin-film composite nanofiltration membranes. We fabricated several polysulfone (PSf) supports. The physicochemical PSf were altered by adding polyethylene glycol (PEG) varying molecular weights (200⁻35,000 g/mol). This alteration facilitated formation a thin polyamide layer on surface during interfacial polymerization reaction involving an aqueous solution piperazine containing 4-aminobenzoic acid and organic trimesoyl chloride....
Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) is one of the materials widely used in biomedical field, yet its application being limited by adverse reactions such as thrombosis when it comes contact with blood. Thus, a simple and robust way to modify ePTFE be biologically inert sought after. Modification without high-energy pretreatment, immersion coating, has been interest researchers for straightforward process ease scaling up. In this study, we utilized two-step coating zwitterionize...
