Background. High levels of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) are associated with mortality and progression chronic kidney disease (CKD). Reducing dietary phosphorus intake lowers FGF23 secretion in healthly individuals, but there is little data on its effects patients pre-dialysis CKD. Methods. Using a 2 × factorial design, we randomly assigned 16 normophosphataemic CKD stage 3–4 to receive 2-week treatment either lanthanum carbonate 1000 mg three times daily or placebo, ingest tightly...
<ns3:p>Background Clinical specialist physiotherapist-led musculoskeletal triage clinics were introduced nationally in Ireland 2011 to improve patient care and reduce waiting times for secondary orthopaedics rheumatology. Evidence has shown them be effective reducing lists, however there are currently no data on longitudinal outcomes following attendance at these clinics. The primary aim of this prospective, cohort study is identify predictors clinical outcome (pain function) 12-months post...
Aim To explore student experience and learning in a simulated clinical placement for novice physiotherapy students. Methods A 1-week was designed to enable the students meet outcomes their first placement. Students’ performance assessed using Common Assessment Form (CAF), nationally standardised tool. confidence assessed. sample of were invited participate focus groups. Focus groups analysed King’s Template analysis based on four themes identified priori: (1) Orientation, (2) Simulation...
Antennas designed to link footwear sensors within body centric networks are introduced with two small UWB antennas, one directional and another quasi-omnidirectional. The radiating characteristics evaluated for three positions on a sample sports shoe using detailed simulation model measurements homogenous foot phantom. Antenna performance is assessed resilience close proximity loading by the materials phantom foot.
Abstract A preliminary study on the conformal properties of an antipodal exponentially tapered antenna placed surface a flow meter system in UWB range is presented. It was observed that water effect can be mitigated by shifting away from pipe surface. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A 433-MHz antenna is proposed for integration with the insole of footwear a body-area network. The folded dipole design an asymmetric groundplane radiates from its edges and considers close proximity human foot ground surfaces. It functions different conductivity conditions on-body communication link inverted-F in upper body area was evaluated on static dynamic subject. solution compliant specific absorption rate (SAR) requirements, remains matched links nodes regardless posture node location.
A footwear‐centric body area network employing a directional antenna is compared with waist‐centric systems using omnidirectional and antennas. The effect of movements on path gain analysed for two bands at 3.99 7.99 GHz. data rate results demonstrate that configurations are equivalent to or better than networks.
The fading and Rician K-factor in UWB Body Area Networks (BANs) is explored. It compares the traditional waist-centric approach with a novel footwear-centric architecture. recently introduced architecture considers locating central hub (data aggregator) footwear it was shown to be comparable or superior terms of path-gain. This paper shows that this conclusion also applies severity K-factor. Thus concluded centric network feasible alternative for BANs.
UWB antennas are suitable for on-body links in body area networks because of the low power, high data rates and short range. As defined Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) Standard, impulse radio technology must provide a fidelity factor greater than 0.8 to ensure reliable communications. In this paper directional an omnidirectional antenna located on footwear computed different locations. The effects grounds also considered.
It is reported that wearable electronic devices are to be used extensively in the next generation of sensors for sports and health monitoring. The information obtained from on human body depends biological parameters, measurement rate number sensors. choice wireless protocol required data rates system configurations. communication link quality achieved with narrowband technologies such as Bluetooth or Zigbee, provided small low. However, real-time measurements using wideband channels may...
A research gap exists for optimal management of cervical radiculopathy in the first 12 weeks and short term natural history condition is somewhat unclear, although thought to be favourable. A UWB 6.0-8.5 GHz monopole antenna for mounting on the toe-box area of footwear is designed using a detailed model running shoe and foot-shaped phantom. Variation anatomical features between individual people gives rise to different proximity permittivity loads antenna. To take account environment, design optimization considers distances impact reflection coefficient radiation efficiency.
