ProRoot MTA의 단점을 보완하기 위한 mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)의 다양한 변형제품이 개발되고 있다. 본 연구는 새로운 MTA제품들의 경화시간, 압축강도, 용해도 및 pH 특성을 물성과 비교하고자 하였다. 연구에서는 MTA (Dentsply, USA)를 포함하여 Ortho (BioMTA, Korea), Retro 그리고 Endocem (Maruchi, 이렇게 총 4종의 상용 MTA제품에 대해 평가하였다. 경화시간과 압축강도는 ISO 9917 방법에 따라, 용해도는 6876 따라 평가하였으며, pH는 고체시편 전용전극이 연결된 수소이온측정기를 이용하여 측정하였다. 본 연구는 소아 환자들의 변화하는 특성과 진료양상의 변화를 파악하여 소아치과 진료의 방향성을 고려하고자 시행되었다. 2003년부터 2010년까지 전남대학교 치과병원 소아치과에 내원한 모든 환자를 대상으로 하였으며 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 전체 내원환자의 수는 2009년, 2010년에 들어 증가하였고 여자보다 남자의 비율이 높았다. 초진환자의 13~15세군의 내원율이 2003년 2.9%에서 2005년 23.5%로 가장 크게 증가하였고, 3~4세군의 내원율은 27.6%에서 3.2%로 감소하였다. 초진환자는 12월이 많았고 이 중 광주시내 거주자가 많았으며 전신질환을 가진 환자는 약 10.7%, 진정치료의 분포는 19.1%였다. 충치 치료를 주소로 경우가 36.0%로 진료현황분포는 2003년에는 수복 치료가 38.4%, 2010년에는 30.4%를 차지함을 보여주었다.
