We present Gemini near-infrared integral field spectrograph (NIFS) K-band observations of the central 400 pc NGC 1266, a nearby (D$\approx$30 Mpc) post-starburst galaxy with powerful multi-phase outflow and shocked ISM. detect 7 H$_2$ ro-vibrational emission lines excited thermally to $T$$\sim$2000 K, weak Br$\gamma$ emission, consistent fast C-shock. With these bright lines, we observe spatial structure shock an unambiguous tracer for first time. The is concentrated in $\lesssim$100 pc,...
Abstract We present Gemini near-infrared integral field spectrograph K -band observations of the central 400 pc NGC 1266, a nearby ( D ≈ 30 Mpc) post-starburst galaxy with powerful multiphase outflow and shocked interstellar medium. detect seven H 2 rovibrational emission lines excited thermally to T ∼ 2000 K, weak Br γ emission, consistent fast continuous shock (or C-shock). With these bright lines, we observe spatial structure an unambiguous tracer for first time. The is concentrated in...
