In the monogamous convict cichlid, mismatched partners become better parents by adjusting their behaviors to each other.
In humans, affective states are a key component in pair-bonding, particularly the early stage of relationship. Pairing with high-quality partner elicits positive which, turn, validate and reinforce mate choice. Affective thus strongly affect pair stability future reproductive success.
