The diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), comprising Crohn's (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), continues to present difficulties due unspecific symptoms limited test accuracies. We aimed determine the diagnostic delay (time from first IBD diagnosis) identify associated risk factors. A total 1591 patients (932 CD, 625 UC, 34 indeterminate colitis) Swiss cohort study (SIBDCS) were evaluated. ABSTRACT Saccharomyces boulardii is a nonpathogenic yeast that protects against antibiotic-associated diarrhea and recurrent Clostridium difficile colitis. The administration of C. toxoid A by gavage to S. -fed BALB/c mice caused 1.8-fold increase in total small intestinal immunoglobulin levels ( P = 0.003) 4.4-fold specific anti-toxin < 0.001). Enhancing host immune responses may be an important mechanism for -mediated protection diarrheal illnesses.

The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, a primary human immunodeficiency, results from defective expression of the hematopoietic-specific cytoskeletal regulator syndrome protein (WASP). Because CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ naturally occurring regulatory T (nTreg) cells control autoimmunity, we asked whether colitis in WASP knockout (WKO) mice is associated with aberrant development/function nTreg cells. We show that WKO have decreased numbers both thymus and peripheral lymphoid organs. Moreover, demonstrate are...
