Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), the most common congenital heart defect, is a major cause of disease requiring interventions and thoracic aneurysms predisposing to acute dissections. The spectrum BAV ranges from early onset complications (EBAV) sporadic late disease. Rare genomic copy number variants (CNVs) have previously been implicated in development aneurysms. We determined frequency gene content rare CNVs EBAV probands (n = 272) using genome-wide SNP microarray analysis three complementary...

Abstract When people internalize cultural materials, they do not absorb them as passive recipients but, rather, adapt and apply in ways that satisfy personal needs while also expressing acceptable to the community. It is just a process of moving things into individual but one synchronizing imaginings experience. For Bangkok's Buddhists, karma concept both culturally shared and, often, deeply personal. Karmic experiences are understood individually through karmic narratives. A set standards...

Abstract The authors in this issue provide ethnographic explorations of believing and beliefs—that is, subjective commitments to truths as being true—situated within a range religious traditions social contexts. Anthropology has struggled with belief—its meanings, its uses, even validity outside the Christian contexts from which it entered field. This discomfort grows large part fact that belief can refer both internal psychological phenomena claims truth. Ultimately, uncertainty is not...

Abstract What allows people to share cultural realities? Many theories imply that orient themselves directly abstract structures or toward a set of powerful discourses which shape them. But because worlds are understood practically and experienced communicated through first‐person perspectives, must engage in empathic perspective taking —orienting one another's perspectives—instead. This article explores idiosyncratic Thai interpretations ghost attacks, shaped by individual institutionalized...

Abstract How do people become sincerely committed to shared beliefs? Many theories explain how come claim beliefs publicly, but provide inadequate explanations as why they take these ideas seriously. I resolve this by adapting a form of practice theory conceptualize meanings not externally imposed social products, creation active psychosocial negotiations that reflect autobiographical narratives. Although the Thai Buddhist doctrine karma is often expressed through abstract, transcendent...

Prenatal genetic testing can provide useful information for pregnancy management and family planning, including early fetal diagnosis of high-risk conditions subsequent termination pregnancy. Termination pregnancy, both elective therapeutic, is a highly controversial topic with different legal considerations among states. Differing regulations make reproductive counseling patients positive prenatal test results difficult, preventing some from receiving appropriate care.

Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common congenital heart defect in adults, often leading to complications such as thoracic aneurysms and stenosis. While BAV frequently associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS), contribution of rare copy number variants (CNVs) this region non-syndromic less clear. This study aimed assess role CNVs patients early-onset (EBAV) determine whether these are linked an increased risk complications.

In September 2016, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) added “BRCA1/2 detected by TMP” as a criterion BRCA1/2 testing. This study aims assess rates testing, without genetic consultations, individuals somatic finding in community oncology...
