The absorption of light and the rotation polarized near an band is discussed for finite polymers. Only zero-order wavefunctions first-order energies are considered polymer, which treated as a rigid array identical groups. length dependence optical properties calculated. resulting equations applied to polypeptide α helix 310 helix, polyadenylic acid, dye complexes with these molecules.
Conformational energy calculations indicate that the peptide backbones of low‐energy conformations cyclized dipeptide derivatives cyclo (L‐alanyl‐L‐alanyl‐ε‐aminocaproyl) and (L‐alanyl‐D‐alanyl‐ε‐aminocaproyl) are constrained to form β‐bends types I + III II, respectively. Thus, two compounds can serve as models for spectroscopic properties these types. The coupling constants obtained from 1 H n.m.r. spectra in DMSO‐d 6 consistent with dihedral angles computed lowest‐energy conformations....

Abstract Explicit expressions for the D K and R associated with excitation of regular oligomers from their ground states to th exciton state as functions N, P , μ μ∥, t r have been derived on assumption that only perturbation V ij N singly excited results transfer between adjacent residues, 12 . The relation predicts occurrence a perpendicularly polarized absorption band arising μ⟂ parallel μ∥ maxima at = [2( + 1)/ ] 1, which are shifted monomer by 2 cos(2π/ ) cos[π/( 1)], respectively....
We have examined the secondary structures of human class I and II histocompatibility antigens in solution by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy circular dichroism order to compare relative amounts alpha-helix, beta-sheet, other structures, which are crucial elements comparison protein structures. Quantitation spectra papain-solubilized HLA-A2, HLA-B7, DR1 phosphate buffer gave alpha-helix contents 17%, 8%, 10% beta-sheet 41%, 48%, 53%, respectively. By dichroism, were also found...
We have studied the circular dichroism and ultraviolet difference spectra of T7 bacteriophage DNA various synthetic polynucleotides upon addition Escherichia coli RNA polymerase. When polymerase binds nonspecifically to DNA, CD spectrum shows a decrease in maximum at 272 but no detectable changes other regions spectrum. This change can be compared with those associated known conformational DNA. Nonspecific binding leads an increase winding angle, theta, The UV for poly[d(A-T)] 4 degrees C...
Neuropsychological testing has intrinsic challenges, including the recruitment of patients and their participation in research projects. To create a method capable collecting multiple datapoints (across domains participants) while imposing low demands on patients, we have developed PONT (Protocol for Online Testing). Using this platform, recruited neurotypical controls, individuals with Parkinson’s disease, cerebellar ataxia tested cognitive status, motor symptoms, emotional well-being,...
The conformational properties of the N ‐acetyl‐ N' ‐methylamides dipeptides lysyl‐lysine, lysyl‐tyrosine, tyrosyl‐lysine, and tyrosyl‐tyrosine were studied by means energy calculations, n.m.r. measurements in deuterated dimethylsulfoxide, circular dichroism water, methanol, dioxane‐water, trifluoroethanol. Since these four occur occasionally as bends proteins, it was interest to see whether short‐range interactions, acting within terminally blocked dipeptides, are sufficient stabilize bend...
