Abstract Background Infection after prostate biopsy (IAPB) occurs in 2-6% of cases. Due to fluoroquinolone resistance at our facility, preprocedural prophylaxis for was switched from Ciprofloxacin Fosfomycin 2017. However, the rates IAPB facility increased 0.93% 4.27% between 2021 and 2022 (Figure 1). Herein we describe impact a series interventions aimed reducing rate. Table One Methods A multidisciplinary workgroup including infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, nursing, urology...
Abstract Background Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a public health threat according to the World Health Organization (WHO), affecting all countries and at income levels. Since WHO’s initial action plan in 2001, multiple campaigns have arisen such as WHO AMR Awareness Week CDC’s U.S. Antibiotic (November 18 24). Here, we use Google Trends (GTr) assess effects of three awareness on online search queries related US from their inception April 2024. Methods GTr analyzes sample Google® web...
Abstract Global climate change driven by human activity is a pressing concern. Recent medical literature highlights the negative consequences of on health, including changing patterns and rising rates global infectious diseases. Livestock production animal agriculture are large contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, antimicrobial resistance propagated antibiotic use in livestock feed. Despite this, demand for animal-based food continues rapidly grow. Furthermore, meat consumption linked...
Cladophialophora bantiana is a dematiaceous fungi and the most common cause of cerebral phaeohyphomycosis. Here, we report rare case ventriculitis with development abscess due to C. diagnosed by cell‐free DNA next‐generation sequencing. Noninvasive diagnostics led earlier disease identification initiation antifungal therapy, which has potential reduce mortality in this highly fatal disease.
