Molecular markers revealed that Botryotinia fuckeliana (the teleomorph of Botrytis cinerea), a haploid, filamentous, heterothallic ascomycete, contained large amount intrapopulation genetic variation. The were used to determine the mode reproduction and population structure this fungus. We did not detect any differentiation between isolates from different organs, collection dates, varieties grape, or locations in Champagne region France, but two unexpected sympatric populations identified....

The phytopathogenic fungus Botrytis cinerea can infect an extremely wide range of host plants (tomato, grapevine, strawberry, and flax) without apparent specialization. While studying genetic diversity in this fungus, we found element which is present multiple copies dispersed throughout the genome some its isolates. DNA sequence analysis revealed that contained direct, long-terminal repeats (LTRs) 596 bp whose features were characteristic retroviral retrotransposon LTRs. Within element,...

BBXs are B-Box zinc finger proteins that can act as transcription factors and regulators of protein complexes. Several BBX play important roles in plant development. Two Arabidopsis thaliana microProteins belonging to the family, named miP1a miP1b, homotypically interact with modulate activity other proteins, including CONSTANS, which transcriptionally activates florigen, FLOWERING LOCUS T. plants overexpressing miP1b showed delayed flowering. In tomato, closest homologs SlBBX16 SlBBX17....

A minisatellite was identified in the intron of ATP synthase filamentous fungus Botrytis cinerea, and it named MSB1. This is second fungal described to date. Its 37-bp repeat unit AT-rich, found at only one locus genome. The introns 47 isolates species were sequenced. number tandem repeats varied from 5 11, but there many variants. structure MSB1 peculiar: variants are same physical order all individuals, this follows most parsimonious tree. These original characteristics, together with a...
