We report on the accurate measurement of nonlinear ellipse rotation (NER) by means a phase-sensitive method employing dual-phase lock-in. The magnitudes and signs pure refractive electronic nonlinearities silica BK7 were determined with this new using 150 femtosecond (fs) laser pulses at 775 nm. Experimental theoretical analyses NER signal carried out results compared to those obtained Z-scan technique.

We investigated the magnitude and origin of nonlinear refraction in several solvents with ellipse rotation measurements as a function pulse duration range from 60fs to 2ps. Due presence non-instantaneous nuclear contributions concurrently nearly instantaneous electronic nonlinearity, present effective refractive nonlinearities that depend on duration. By proposing an empirical model where nonlinearity grows exponentially normalized response time, we could separate fast isotropic slow...

Nonlinear optical effects have been widely explored for microscopy due to the possibility of three-dimension (3D) image acquisition. Harmonic generation and nonlinear absorption, instance, were used this purpose. Each effect has its own characteristic, complexity, type contrast, advantage disadvantage, etc. Recently, we developed a new simple sensitive method measuring ellipse rotation (NER) using dual-phase lock-in amplifier, which could be successfully applied local nonlinearity...

The measurements of nonlinear ellipse rotation (NER) can be very helpful to determine the magnitude, as well, origin nonlinearity. As it is known, NER related particular component third-order susceptibility which different from other effects. In this way, here we propose a new method improve measuring precision angle using dual phase lock-in. We also did well known Z-scan measurement provides refractive index give support our results. Using these two measurements, could study several...

We report on self-referenced third-order nonlinear optical properties determination method by measuring the ellipse rotation (NER) angles. Here, using a dual-phase lock-in, we were able to measure precisely NER glasses and liquids.

We have identified strong influence of pulse width in the nonlinear refractive index, n2, gases due to contribution noninstantaneous response. Using 50fs-1.2ps pulses, n2 values were determined by ellipse rotation measurements.
