The inbred mouse strain BTBR T+ Itpr3tf /J (BTBR) is studied as a model of idiopathic autism because they are less social and more resistant to change than other strains. Forebrain serotonin receptors the response drugs altered in mice, yet it remains unknown if neurons themselves abnormal. In this study, we found that tissue content density axons reduced hippocampus mice comparison C57BL/6J (C57) mice. This was accompanied by possible compensatory changes were most pronounced regions known...

Many frontline workers in the Hong Kong construction industry have to perform physically demanding work under hot working conditions, which could reduce efficiency and time increase occurrence of heat cramps, exhaustion, stroke. This study aimed develop a hybrid, new cooling vest combat stress industry. Following functional clothing design process, problem identification was conducted. Preliminary ideas were formed through analysis available types, research, survey, literature review,...

In the present work, a novel dansyl group functionalized Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic nanomaterial with core–shell structure was developed, aiming to detect and remove Hg2+ from aqueous media. The multifunctional nanocomposite shows excellent fluorescence sensitivity selectivity towards over other metal ions (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Al3+, Ca2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Fe3+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Ag+). Concentrations as low 10−8 M can be detected addition of has negligible influence on emission. Regarding reversibility...

A system noise study is presented for the blended-wing-body (BWB) aircraft configured with advanced technologies that are projected to be available in 2025 timeframe of NASA N+2 definition. This assessment shows levels baseline configuration, measured by cumulative Effective Perceived Noise Level (EPNL), have a large margin 34 dB regulation Stage 4. confirms acoustic benefits BWB shielding engine noise, as well other reduction technologies, but margins less than previously published...

*This paper presents a model for aircraft flap side edge noise prediction. The is modeled as two components, respectively the low and high frequency domain corresponding to generation mechanisms in flows. mostly comes from flow separation near sharp corners of flap, mainly forward half chord, largely due interactions between large scale vortex structure occurring mid aft chord length where well established with significant vertical energy be scattered into sound by corners. prediction...

This purpose of this study was to investigate the impact fabric moisture transport properties (MTP) on physiological responses when wearing protective clothing. Ten healthy subjects wore two kinds personal equipment (PPE) ensembles and exercised a treadmill, worked computer, moved mannequin in an environment that simulated where health carers work. PPE1 consisted cotton underwear 100% polyethylene outerwear. PPE2 with management function outerwear made waterproof breathable fabric. The...

*This paper presents a model for aircraft slat noise prediction, based on the theory of aerodynamic sound generation and first principles source flow physics. Starting from acoustic analogy, high Reynolds number low Mach flows in cove region is formulated as general solution by method dimensional analysis, far field asymptotic expansion statistic modeling. The relates spectrum to surface pressure statistics, characteristic length time scales statistics Greens function that accounts...

This paper presents the development of a noise prediction model for aircraft Krueger flap devices that are considered as alternatives to leading edge slotted slats. The decomposes total into four components, generated by unsteady flows, respectively, in cove under pressure side surface Krueger, gap between trailing and main wing, around brackets supporting device, cavity on lower wing. For each component, modeling follows physics-based approach aims at capturing dominant noise-generating...
