Abstract Recently, the 2 µm wavelength band has attracted increasing interest because of its potential prospects for free‐space and fiber optical communications. Silicon photonic integrated circuits can operate in this band, but a major challenge exists photodetectors photon energies are less than energy bandgap germanium which is material used silicon conventional communications bands. While it possible to have weak absorption at 2‐µm using strained defect states, need long length degrade...
We optimize the novel configuration of a hybrid fiber amplifier---Raman assisted-fiber-based optical parametric amplifier (R-FOPA), in which gain and Raman profiles are combined to achieve flat composite profile. The pump powers length effectively optimized by genetic algorithm (GA) scheme. optimization results indicate that R-FOPA can 200-nm bandwidth spectrum with 20 dB ripple less than 4 dB.
