abstract Thirteen advanced seismograph systems, called Seismic Research Observatories (SRO), are being installed as part of a program to upgrade the worldwide seismic data network. The SRO system was created by combining recently developed broad-band borehole seismometer and software-controlled recording system. seismometers at depth 100 meters avoid wind-generated noise in long-period band. A output that is flat acceleration between periods 1 50 sec used produce both short- recorded on...

We present a mechanical assay for estimating the time course of Ca2+ bound to low-affinity sites on troponin C (TnC) in twitching rabbit papillary muscle. The is based theoretical correlation between rate force redevelopment after detachment all cross-bridges and amount TnC. Experimentally, we applied length impulses at different times detach cross-bridges; initial each impulse was taken as an index that time. Under control conditions, magnitude this decreased 10% its maximum during early...

Objectives: A mechanistic model of the cardiovascular system can represent blood flow throughout circulatory under healthy and pathological conditions [1]. It is well suited for use as foundation an autonomous closed-loop intervention (ACIS), which would deliver multiple drugs simultaneously based in part on bio digital twin predictions patient-specific drug responses. The underlying hemodynamic includes numerous parameters that have biological relevance but cannot be directly measured a...

The World‐Wide Standard Seismograph Network (WWSSN) was established in the 1960's to provide data needed for fundamental research seismology and global tectonics. It has served this purpose well over past decade, contributing essential during a period of accelerated progress understanding earthquake tectonic processes. WWSSN will be principal source years come, but some improvements are if network is keep pace with needs seismological community. These have grown advances development...

The Seismic Research Observatory (SRO) network is generating an important new data base for seismological research. SRO systems have extended both the range and resolution of seismic measurements beyond limits conventional seismographs are recorded in digital format making it convenient to automate processing analysis. now comprises 12 stations one additional station will be installed. produced by network, other being installed supplement collected U.S. Geological Survey's Albuquerque...

Interviews with six top lodging industry operators and a leading consultant reveal the nature of leadership provide foundation for authors' profile hospitality leadership. The participating CEOs agreed that leader needs to develop communicate vision, but do it in way encourages everyone company participate vision. While there's no doubt technology has will continue alter business, leader's responsibility is determine how apply purpose better guest employee service. Most noted their job...

For many people, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) looks like a nimble way of using computer to make phone calls. Download the software, pick an identifier and then wherever there is connection, you can call. From this perspective, it makes perfect sense that anything be done with telephone system — such as E911 graceful accommodation wiretapping should able readily VoIP well.

Total artificial heart (TAH) using dual rotary blood pumps (RBPs) is a potential treatment for end-stage failure. A well-noted challenge with RBPs their low sensitivity to preload, which can lead venous congestion and ventricular suction. To address this issue, we have developed an innovative closed-loop control system of in TAH. This emulates the Frank-Starling law controlling while monitoring stressed volume (V) based on circulatory equilibrium framework. We validated in-vivo experiments.
