On 6 February 2023, two large earthquakes (moment magnitude 7.8 and 7.6) shocked a vast area of southeastern Türkiye northern Syria, leading to heavy casualties economic loss. To investigate the rupture process over multiple fault segments, we performed comprehensive analysis local seismic geodetic data determined supershear ruptures on initial branch Pazarcık Erkenek segments subshear Amanos segment event 1. The bilateral 2 also presents distinct sub- velocities. dynamic stress triggered at...
Significance The Songpan-Ganzi terrane lies in the central-east of Tibetan Plateau, which was considered a stable block some tectonic models. Its deformation mode is crucial importance for understanding evolutionary history and seismic hazard plateau. recent Maduo earthquake occurred inside terrane. We resolve bilateral rupture process with distinct super- subshear modes this event. also find that pervasive folding structures are aligned by shear current responsible wave anisotropy strain...
Abstract The 2021 M w 6.1 Yangbi earthquake in southwest China is preceded by three major foreshocks: 05/18 4.3, 05/19 4.6, and 05/21 5.2. It provides a valuable chance to revisit two end‐member foreshock models: cascade‐up pre‐slip models. We first determine the fault structure with relocated aftershocks focal mechanisms obtained from multipoint‐source inversion. find that mainshock smaller foreshocks occur on an unmapped near‐vertical fault, largest occurs mapped stepover dips northeast....
The moment magnitude (Mw) 6.4 and 7.1 Ridgecrest earthquake sequence that occurred on July 4 6, 2019, ruptured a conjugate fault system within the eastern California shear zone. In addition to ∼50 km surface ruptures, activated series of structures with lengths ranging from 1 10 km, which are well illuminated by phase gradient maps Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferograms. deformation patterns mechanisms these fractures have been studied, yet controlling factors their spatial...

The 2018 <i>M</i>W6.7 Iburi earthquake shocked the eastern region to west of Hidaka Collision Zone in Hokkaido, which is a destructive inland earthquake. We resolved kinematic rupture process event by combining strong motions (SM) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images joint inversion. results reveal that duration whole about 17s, yielding total seismic moment 1.4×1019 N·m (<i>M</i>W=6.7). main slip area located at depth approximately 24 km with peak ~0.8m...
