The effect of Er on the microhardness and precipitation behavior heat-treated Al−Si−Mg alloy was investigated by tester TEM. As a comparison, influence natural aging also studied. It is shown that thermal stability over-aged Al−Si−Mg−Er highly related to average size precipitates. β'' precipitates in smaller than alloy, distribution more localized under condition without introducing aging.
