Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding is a powerful method for monitoring aquatic biodiversity and evaluating ecosystem health. In this study, we applied eDNA multi-species biotic integrity index (Mt-IBI), constructed by selecting screening core metrics to capture key ecological responses, assess the Irtysh River Basin in Xinjiang, China, analyzing samples from 52 sites. The community structure showed high sensitivity environmental stressors, with dissolved oxygen (DO), total nitrogen (TN),...

To study the morphological differences between and evolutionary mechanisms driving differentiation of geographically distinct populations Gymnodiptychus dybowskii, 158 fish were collected from Turks River Manas in Xinjiang 2020 to 2021 with approval Academic Ethics Committee. The characteristics assessed using classical ecology methods such as traditional morphometric measurements framework approach. results showed that significantly different; a one-way ANOVA revealed 22 highly significant...

This study investigated the spatial and temporal variations of macrobenthos community structure in Yuqu River Basin during dry wet seasons due to environmental factors. quantified independent interactive contributions hydrophysical, hydrochemical, climatic factors through a variance decomposition analysis (VPA). The findings indicate that May (the season), such as water depth, flow velocity, dissolved oxygen, air temperature exhibit relatively minor fluctuations, rendering aquatic...

In the last decade, phylogenetic relationships within genus Triplophysa have become controversial, due to a lack of molecular data. The mitochondrial genome plays vital role in reconstruction and revealing evolution bony fishes. Herein, we obtained complete mitogenome bombifrons via HiFi reads Pacbio Sequel II system DNBSEQ short-reads. We compared all available mitogenomes reconstructed phylogeny Nemacheilidae, based on mitogenomes, using maximum likelihood (ML) methods. results show that...

In this study, we investigated how changes in salinity affect biodiversity and function 11 typical water bodies the Altai region. The of freshwater ranged from 0 to 5, brackish salinities 5 20, hypersaline environments had > 20. We identified orders, 34 families, 55 genera 3061 benthic samples classified them into 10 traits 32 categories. Subsequently, conducted Mantel tests canonical correlation analysis (CCA) calculated functional diversity indices for each sampling site. results...

In this study, the composition and structure of macrobenthic community in Ulungu River Basin was investigated water quality status basin evaluated. May August 2022, October 2023, environmental factors at 11 sample sites were investigated, evaluated by Shannon–Wiener index, FBI, BMWP index. A total 6101 organisms collected; these belonged to 3 phyla, 7 classes, 14 orders, 57 families, 117 genera. Arthropod species accounted for largest number (87.9%). nine dominant found: Micronecta sp.,...

Artificial water bodies in Central Asia offer unique environments which to study plankton diversity influenced by topographic barriers. However, the complexity of these ecosystems and limited comprehensive studies region challenge our understanding. In this study, we systematically investigated environment parameters phytoplankton community structure surveying 14 artificial waters on southern side Altai Mountains northern sides Tianshan Xinjiang region. The survey covered physical nutrient...

Little is known about how changes in the biodiversity and functional traits of macroinvertebrates rivers respond to responses anthropic pressures their driving factors. Macroinvertebrates were sampled at 17 sites Irtysh River Basin classified into 10 38 categories between May August 2022. Then, we performed R-mode linked Q-mode (RLQ) analysis calculated richness, evenness, divergence, Rao's quadratic entropy (RaoQ) for each site community-weighted means trait category. Our results indicated...

In this study, we first sequenced the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Schizothorax argentatus. The circular mitogenome S. argentatus is 16,587 bp long, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA two ribosomal RNA and a control region (D-loop region). base composition AT biased (63.11%). A phylogenetic tree confirms monophyly at genus level within Cyprinidae supports as sister to pseudoaksaiensis.
