Understanding the physical processes that regulate star formation and galaxy evolution are major areas of activity in modern astrophysics. Nearby galaxies offer unique opportunities to inspect interstellar medium (ISM), (SF), radiative, dynamic magnetic physics great detail from sub-galactic (kpc) scales sub-cloud (sub-pc) scales, quiescent starbursts, field overdensities. In this case study, we discuss breakthroughs area research will be enabled by Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter...

ABSTRACT Hub-filament systems (HFSs) are potential sites of formation star clusters and high mass stars. To understand the HFSs to provide observational constraints on current theories that attempt explain globally, we report a study region associated with G326.27-0.49 using infrared data dust continuum newly obtained observations molecular tracers APEX (Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment) telescope. We use spectroscopic identify velocity-coherent structures (filaments clumps) their properties at...

We derived molecular gas fractions ( f mol = M / * ) and depletion times τ /SFR) for 353 galaxies representative of the local star-forming population with 10 8.5 ⊙ < 10.5 drawn from ALLSMOG xCOLDGASS surveys CO(2−1) CO(1−0) line emission. By adding constraints low-mass upper limits CO non-detections, we find median fraction to be constant at log −0.99 −0.19 +0.22 , challenging previous reports increased in galaxies. We derive molecular gas fractions ($f_\mathrm{mol}=M_\mathrm{mol}/M_*$) and depletion times ($\tau_\mathrm{mol}= M_\mathrm{mol}/\mathrm{SFR} $) for 353 galaxies representative of the local star-forming population with $10^{8.5}\,M_\odot < M_* 10^{10.5}\,M_\odot$ drawn from ALLSMOG xCOLDGASS surveys CO(2-1) CO(1-0) line emission. By adding constraints low-mass upper limits CO non-detections, we find median fraction to be constant at $f_\mathrm{mol}=-1.04\pm 0.04$ challenging previous reports...

Context: Molecular clouds are the prime locations of star formation. These contain filamentary structures and cores which crucial in formation young stars. Aims: In this work, we aim to quantify physical properties structural characteristics within molecular cloud L1251 better understand initial conditions for Methods: We applied getsf algorithm identify filaments using Herschel multiband dust continuum image, enabling us measure their respective properties. Additionally, utilized an...
