Abstract Coral reefs rely heavily on reef fish for their health, yet overfishing has resulted in decline, leading to an increase fast-growing algae and changes ecosystems, a phenomenon described as the phase-shift. A clearer understanding of intricate interplay between herbivorous, food, gut microbiomes could enhance health. This study examines microbiome isotopic markers (δ 13 C δ 15 N) four key nominally herbivorous species ( Acanthurus chirurgus , Kyphosus sp., Scarus trispinosus...
A Gram-staining-negative, oxidase-positive, strictly aerobic rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain PT1 T , was isolated from the laboratory-reared larvae of sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus . phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene nucleotide sequences revealed that closely related to Neptuniibacter marinus ATR 1.1 (= CECT 8938 = DSM 100783 ) and caesariensis MED92 7075 CCUG 52065 showing 98.2% 98.1% sequence similarity, respectively. However, average identity (ANI) in silico...
The Great Amazon Reef System (GARS) is an extensive biogenic reef influenced by a plume layer of sediments. This creates extreme environment where light reduced, thus affecting physicochemical properties as well living organisms such sponges and their microbiomes. sponge’s microbiome has numerous ecological roles, like participation in biogeochemical cycles host nutrition, helping the sponge thrive contributing to ecosystem. Also, sponge-associated microorganisms are rich sources bioactive...
Symbiont relationships between corals and photosynthetic microorganisms sustain coral reef existence. However, the Great Amazon Reef System (GARS) stays under a plume layer that attenuates entry of light, instead corals, sponges are major epifauna, for which little is known about function associated microbiome. Here, we used genome-resolved metagenomics to investigate how sponge microbiome supports its host overcomes reduced light availability, recovering 205 MAGs from Agelas Geodia with...
Abstract This manuscript provides the description of bacterial strain designated A520 T (A520 = CBAS 737 CAIM 1944 ) characterized by Gram-negative, flagellated, aerobic bacteria. It was obtained from skin bandtail pufferfish Sphoeroides spengleri (Tetraodontidae Family), collected in Arraial do Cabo, located Rio de Janeiro region, Brazil. Optimum growth occurs at 25 - 30 °C presence 3% NaCl. The genome sequence novel isolate consisted 4.502 Mb (4,082 coding genes and G+C content 41.1%)....
