The purpose of this study was to report on our experience salvage nasopharyngectomy using the maxillary swing approach for persistent or recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma after primary treatment.Over past 2 decades, we have performed nasopharyngectomies 246 patients. Thirty-seven patients (15%) had disease and 209 (85%) tumors. All survived operation with minimal morbidity. Negative resection margins were achieved in 191 (78%), 55 (22%) microscopic residual disease. median follow-up 38...
The maxillary swing procedure has been used as an anterolateral approach to expose the nasopharynx, central skull base, and its vicinity. reported incidence of postoperative palatal fistula ranged from 20% 25%. oronasal incompetence especially associated with a large adversely affected normal speech, eating, swallowing functions. We describe modified incision reduce procedure.Fifteen consecutive patients who underwent procedures for salvage resection recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma after...
Abstract Background. The quantity of circulating cell–free Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) DNA in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) managed by radiotherapy has prognostic relevance. We measured the copy number EBV early recurrent NPC before and after salvage nasopharyngectomy. Methods. Nasopharyngectomy maxillary swing approach was performed for 28 patients. Serum blood samples were taken prospectively nasopharyngectomy on postoperative day 7. Plasma copies a real‐time quantitative...

Objective
To investigate factors affecting the quality of life (QOL) patients with recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma who underwent a nasopharyngectomy using maxillary swing approach.
Design
Cross-sectional study self-administered questionnaire data and medical chart review.
Setting
Tertiary cancer referral center.
Patients
Patients approach between January 1998 December 2003, had minimal follow-up 3 months, completed questionnaire.
Interventions
...
Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the anatomical features, clinical applications, and donor-site morbidities free posterior tibial flap. Methods: vascular system examined in 30 fresh cadaver legs. This followed by a involving patients with flap reconstruction defects head neck region after tumor extirpation. Potential were studied at 1 year surgery. Results: mean caliber artery venae comitantes cadaveric limbs 2.7, 2.9, 2.17 mm, respectively. number septocutaneous...
We conducted a retrospective review of the prognosis for patients with local recurrence after surgical treatment carcinoma tongue. Glossectomy squamous cell tongue was performed in 167 patients. Local developed 32 including 21 alone, 10 locoregional and one locodistant recurrence. The incidence increased tumor stage (from 16% T1 tumors to 46% T4 carcinomas). Eleven (34%) underwent salvage recurrence, only (9%) patient surviving free at 43 months post-surgical salvage. All remaining were...

Inertial appendages (e.g., tails and reaction wheels) have shown their reorientation capability to enhance robots' mobility while airborne or improve safety in falling. The tail, especially with two Degrees of Freedom (DoFs), is normally subject its limited Range Motion (RoM). Although the wheel circumvents this limitation, efficiency has been lower than tail terms inducing Moment Inertia (MoI). In literature, only one type inertial used on terrestrial robots air, e.g., either using a...
The most common concern in patients with Madelung syndrome who are seeking cosmetic improvement is the deposition of fat cervicofacial region. Surgical experience a series 15 was summarised to provide guidelines for rational approach better aesthetic outcome. records and clinical photographs these were reviewed. Outcome assessed terms adequacy debulking, final overall symmetry, smoothness contour, prominence scar, necessity multiple sessions. Open excision preferred primary treatment. A long...
Insertion of a voice prosthesis through the tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP) is one way to restore after total laryngectomy. The second generation Provox ® presently most popular devices. Although TEP can be done primarily, there are many centres that prefer it at stage for various reasons. However, secondary retrograde replacement difficult and general anaesthesia very often necessary. Moreover, presence neck stiffness fibrosis from surgery or previous radiotherapy could affect extension...
In this article, we present a novel feedback controller for the collision-free navigation of class nonholonomic vehicles based on functions in convex environment. This utilizes high-level principle— null space circumvention —in control, allowing us to involve different vehicle kinematics and with respect task For single vehicle, have proved that can steer it target SE(2) while avoiding...
The study of underactuated robotics, especially with hardware implementation, has received more and attention recently. Many existing robotic systems were often built complicated structures algorithms that prohibit learners from acquiring knowledge easily. Given the increasing demand on online teaching off-campus learning due to pandemic, portable multifunctional platforms open-source software are desirable. However, even for those simple such as Pendubot Acrobot, their may not satisfy new...
In many outdoor inductive charging applications, the objects can move quickly, and environment change unpredictably. It is therefore difficult to design a fast controller that tracks in mutual coupling between transmitter receiver. The diminished power delivery either leads incomplete or prolongs time. this paper, concept of zone impedance matching technique proposed. This pre-matches coil desired coefficients. Thus, transfer capability charger be maintained at reasonably high level over...
