ABSTRACT
Abstract Aerosol mixtures composed of coarse and fine particles occur frequently in metropolitan areas the world, especially developing countries. Beijing, China, Kanpur, India, are both Asian monsoon regions experience strong aerosol loading because increased economic activities, vehicles, urbanization. Observations originating from Robotic Network (AERONET) have played a vital role field study. In order to understand variations optical, physical properties component composition over Beijing we focus on AERONET measurements collected at these two sites 2002 2013 employ five‐component (including black carbon, BC; mineral dust, DU; brown BrC; ammonium sulfate like, AS; water content, AW) mixture model retrieve composition. Particle size distribution, spectral characteristics single‐scattering albedo, refractive indices aerosols Kanpur found be distinct with regular seasonal variations. Correspondingly, components show temporal sites. BC shows significant decrease (especially after 2007) an average declining rate 0.69 mg m −2 yr −1 . Among five components, BrC higher during winter autumn while DU AS spring summer With respect site differences, usually most year, April June. Moreover, AW is similar quite comparable
