ABSTRACT
Abstract Nitric oxide (NO) is a crucial signaling molecule with various functions in physiological systems. Due to its potent biological effect, the preparation of responsive biomaterials upon NO having temporally transient properties challenging task. This study represents first therapeutic‐gas (i.e., NO)‐responsive hydrogel by incorporating NO‐cleavable crosslinker. The rapidly swollen response NO, and not other gases. Furthermore, NO‐responsive gel converted enzyme‐responsive gels cascade reactions from an enzyme production for which precursor substrate enzyme. application as drug‐delivery system proved here revealing effective protein drug release infusion, also shown be secreted cultured cells. may prove useful many applications, example vehicles, inflammation modulators, tissue scaffold.
