ABSTRACT
Abstract A pump‐probe shadowgraphy study of femtosecond laser percussion drilling on glass samples is reported applying three different operating regimes, which are the standard repetitive single pulse, MHz‐ and GHz‐burst modes. The comparison imaging in MHz‐burst regimes demonstrated for first time to best knowledge. Synchronizing a pulse probe with pump burst regime constitutes real novelty micromachining studies. By this means, better understanding process dynamics two provided reveals differences between these regimes. Especially, through via drillings hole depths investigated sodalime glass. results show that ablation plume has an essential role as it stops soon escapes from explaining final morphology observed deep drillings.
