ABSTRACT
Abstract Crude oil and hydrocarbon fuel spills are a perennial threat to aquatic environments. Inexpensive sustainable sorbents needed mitigate the ecological harm of this pollution. To address need, study features low‐density polysulfide polymer that is prepared by direct reaction sulfur used cooking oils. Because both oils hydrophobic, has an affinity for hydrocarbons such as crude diesel can rapidly remove them from seawater. Through simple mechanical compression, be recovered reused in spill remediation. The unique because it entirely repurposed waste: by‐product petroleum industry comonomer. In way, waste make effective sorbent combatting pollution same sector.
