ABSTRACT
Abstract Nonhuman primates (NHPs) are widely studied across many scientific disciplines using a variety of techniques in diverse environments. Due to the wide scope NHP research, substantial overlap research topics and questions can occur, whose resulting evidence is synthesized by literature reviews. Identifying all relevant on particular topic involving NHPs be difficult time consuming. By adopting objective search development from systematic reviews, we developed filters detect publications PubMed, PsycINFO (via EBSCOhost), Web Science. We compared performance our comprehensive strings typical novice database user (i.e., simple strings) validated their sensitivity combining these searches with cortisol related studies. For comparisons, retrieved considerably more than strings. Importantly, easy use (text copied pasted into engine) most recent that have yet indexed bibliographic databases queried. Additionally, filterNHP, an R package web‐based application ( https://filterNHP.dpz.eu ), for researchers interested taxonomic sub‐group NHPs. filterNHP alleviates necessary adapting automatizing creation filters. Altogether, those sub‐groups generated will enable swift retrieval available NHPs, thereby help enhance quality new reviews guide future (new experiments) public policy (e.g., welfare conservation).
