ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Despite being among the fastest‐growing ethnoracial groups in Canada and United States, individuals of Asian descent are significantly underrepresented research on Alzheimer’s disease related dementias (ADRD). Limited evidence suggests a lower incidence dementia Americans compared to their White counterparts; however, there is variability risk factors American subgroups. Understanding this heterogeneity crucial for tailoring prevention intervention strategies populations. To address gap, we launched CA nadian M ulti‐ E thnic R esearch A ging (CAMERA) study Toronto, Canada. Method CAMERA 5‐year longitudinal observational based at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre aims enroll 300 cognitively unimpaired adults aged 55‐85 who self‐identify as South Asian, Chinese, or non‐Hispanic (n = 100/group). Participants recruited from greater Toronto area using culturally appropriate, community‐based participatory approaches. We formed community advisory board (CAB) comprising members share same identity, language, culture, values participants. The CAB actively engages process, participant recruitment, questions, knowledge translation. In terms protocol, baseline (Year 1), Year 3, 5, participants complete clinical, cognitive, brain MRI, blood (for genetic biomarker analysis), language‐ neutral eye‐tracking assessments. Every year, series questionnaires via REDCap covering demographic, community, cultural social, mental physical health, sex‐specific health factors. Result As April 2024, have enrolled 131 Of those, 92 completed 1 testing. participants, 31 (33.7%) self‐identified 36 (39.1%) 25 (27.2%) White. mean age 68.1 years (SD 6.2), mostly female (62 (67.4%)). Conclusion our knowledge, will be first cohort that brings together sensitive imaging tools, novel blood‐based markers, comprehensive cognitive data investigate ADRD understudied This yield currently unavailable inform development precision prevent delay other
