ABSTRACT
Abstract The importance of antibacterial materials for biomedical applications is growing nowadays. presented article deals with the characterization structural, mechanical and thermal properties polymeric films based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) silver nitrate, which can find their applicability in wound dressing components protective coating. methods transmission electron microscopy, UV–vis XRD spectroscopy, optical differential scanning calorimetry, stress–strain analysis, agar diffusion test were used to characterize polymer prepared. results showed strong activity against Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus already at lowest addition level nitrate. An improvement (Young's modulus) was also noticed due a modification PVA nitrate up 1 wt. % content. Furthermore, show effect history sample preparation degree silver‐ion reduction formation nanoparticles. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci,
