ABSTRACT
Abstract In recent years, much research effort has been driven to develop alternative plasticizers for medical and commodity plastic materials. this study, a modified natural plasticizer, synthesized by esterification of rice fatty acids, was epoxidation with peroxy acid generated in situ . Two epoxidized were obtained, using peracetic (NP‐Ac) peroctanoic (NP‐Oc) as reagent. PVC films after addition these presented fairly good incorporation plasticizing performance, demonstrated results mechanical properties, T g values (as shown DSC), optical microscopy, exudation, migration tests, FTIR X‐ray diffraction obtained plasticized films. NP‐Ac plasticizer enhanced performance compared NP‐Oc, probably due higher degree the reaction acid. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013
