ABSTRACT
Abstract The present work depicts the preparation, characterization, and application of thin film composite nanofiltration (TFCNF) membranes. TFCNF membranes having polyacrylonitrile ultrafiltration support with active layer made polystyrene sodium sulfonate–polypiperazinetrimesamide semi‐interpenetrating polymer network (semi‐IPN) are prepared. Membranes semi‐IPN exhibited better hydrophilicity, higher negative zeta potential surface roughness in comparison NF virgin polypiperazinetrimesamide as layer. Semi‐IPN pure water permeability 103 ± 10 LMH at 150 psi pressure rejection ratio bivalent to monovalent salts 2.7, whereas for membrane values, 42 5 2.1, respectively. showed antifouling behavior than membrane. flux recovery total fouling were observed 97.8 3.3% membranes, values 90.9 10.5%,
