ABSTRACT
Abstract Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a promising membrane material for pervaporation (PV) desalination. However, the adjustment and control of cross‐linking structure still challenge PVA membrane. In this study, novel pH‐resistant PVA‐based composite efficient desalination was developed by precisely adjusting behavior. Vinyl alcohol‐vinylamine copolymer (VA‐co‐VAm) containing both hydroxyl amino groups synthesized. Cross‐linking reaction carried out based on Schiff base between (in VAm moiety) glutaraldehyde (GA) under alkaline conditions. degree selective layer carefully controlled group content in copolymer. Results showed that prepared with VA‐co‐VAm 5 wt% N‐vinylformamide (NVF) displayed superior hydrophilicity largest free volume fraction. Pervaporation test indicated modified good stability extreme pH Specifically, strong acid conditions (pH ~ 1) 14), excellent performance water flux over 12 kg/(m 2 h), salt rejection higher than 99.95%. Based above results, offers platform conditions, which shows great potential industrial wastewater treatment.
