ABSTRACT
Summary Metro station corridor and passengers are described as a G/G( n )/ C / state‐dependent queuing system with general random arrival interval G service time G( ) to offset the shortcomings in existing design methods. The corresponding discrete event simulation model is developed, its high‐fidelity tested. Then optimization algorithm based on designed determine width. proposed method analytical methods, M/G( D/D/1/ models, applied width numerical example of 48 combinations passenger flow rates level (LOS). widths tested micro‐simulation model, performance measure compared. result shows that obtained by new 0.357 m (7.4%) larger than other two methods average; area per increases 10.53% 11.63%, respectively, compared methods; satisfy requirement LOS under various flows, whereas 93% fail meet LOS, have high elasticity coefficients LOS‐width.
