ABSTRACT
Abstract While previous research has demonstrated the role of decision‐making styles in attaining various real‐life outcomes, it neglected to explore underlying goal‐related processes terms goal dimensions (ways which people appraise their goals during striving). The present study examines whether most studied are related self‐reported effort, progress, and action crisis as well other dimensions. We conducted 14 studies (mutual conceptual replications) with N total = 2574 (70% females) included General Decision‐Making Styles questionnaire scales. results from mini meta‐analysis showed that rational intuitive were positively associated successful pursuit (e.g., commitment, attainability, positive emotions, progress), while avoidant style was mainly difficulties striving controlled motivation, negative crisis). dependent especially spontaneous found be very weakly selected When separate analyzed regression analyses more process‐oriented accounted for, only minor predictors effort expenditure, progress crisis. highlights need usefulness a nuanced processual approach individual differences goal‐directed behavior.
