ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is frequently associated with aquaporin‐4 autoantibodies (AQP4‐Ab); however, studies of NMO in Lithuania are lacking. Therefore, the main objective our study to assess positivity for AQP4‐Ab patients presenting inflammatory demyelinating central nervous system (CNS) diseases other than typical multiple sclerosis (MS) Lithuania. Materials and methods Data were collected from two largest University hospitals During period, there 121 newly diagnosed MS cases, which included registry database. After excluding these we analyzed remaining 29 cases CNS diseases, including atypical ( n = 14), acute transverse myelitis, TM 8), disseminated encephalomyelitis, ADEM 3), clinically isolated syndrome, CIS 2), optic neuritis, ON 1), 1). We assessed evaluated clinical, laboratory, instrumental differences between seropositive seronegative patient groups. Results test was positive three (10.3%) study, initial diagnoses 2) One negative despite being previously NMO. There no significant or groups (3 [10.3%]) (26 [89.7%]) patients. Conclusions one‐tenth study. testing highly recommended not only but also an course ADEM.
