ABSTRACT
Cross-ethnic friendships offer a unique opportunity for improving intergroup relations and reduce prejudice, yet ethnic segregation of friendship networks is often seen as major obstacle to the integration immigrant students in educational contexts. This article examines role perspective-taking abilities prejudice towards low social class peers on probability cross-ethnic sample 242 from five multicultural classrooms Chile (Mage = 12.3; SD 0.69, 45% girls). It was expected that who reported high levels were more likely form maintain friendships. Longitudinal network analysis (RSiena) used examine these hypotheses, confirming both variables fostering (and reducing) among Chilean adolescents. Results are discussed light an intersectional framework between ethnicity. Implications social-emotional interventions contexts also discussed.
