ABSTRACT
Retinoic acid receptor α (RARα), a member of family the nuclear retinoic receptors (RARs), plays an essential role in various chronic kidney diseases (CKD). Renal tubular epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is common mechanism progression renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF). Hypoxia has been extensively considered as one major inducers EMT. However, effects RARα on hypoxia-induced EMT have not yet described so far. The aim present study was explore roles and potential mechanisms cells (RTECs). Our results showed that expression RTECs subjected hypoxia significantly reduced, accompanied by decreased level marker E-cadherin, increased levels markers α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) vimentin, accord with Meanwhile, could cause obviously express TGF-β matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). Furthermore, using lentivirus-based delivery vectors overexpress RTECs, we demonstrated alleviated downregulated MMP-9. In word, protects against induced associated TGF-β/MMP-9 pathway.
