ABSTRACT
We report a multiinstitutional study on intermediate-term outcome of intravascular stenting for treatment coarctation the aorta using integrated arch imaging (IAI) techniques.Medical records 578 patients from 17 institutions were reviewed. A total 588 procedures performed between May 1989 and Aug 2005. About 27% (160/588) followed up by further IAI their (MRI/CT/repeat cardiac catheterization) after initial stent procedures. Abnormal studies included: presence dissection or aneurysm formation, fracture, reobstruction within (instent restenosis significant intimal build-up stent). Forty-one abnormal reported in intermediate follow-up at median 12 months (0.5-92 months). Smaller postintervention (CoA) diameter an increased persistent systolic pressure gradient associated with encountering studies. Aortic wall abnormalities included dissections (n = 5) 13). The risk aortic larger percent increase CoA poststent implant, increasing balloon/coarc ratio, performing prestent angioplasty. Stent was observed 5/6 parts fracture neointimal buildup 16). Small implant residual likelihood instent follow-up.Abnormalities following IS placement native recurrent aorta. Not exceeding balloon:coarctation ratio 3.5 avoidance angioplasty decreased undergoing recommend all CoA.
